[from our own correspondents.] Napier, Feb. 20. A fire occurred in Shakespeare mad this morning, at 4 a.m., which destroyed seven houses. Nearly all the goods were saved. The cause of the fire is unknown, but ii is expected that very suspicions circumstances will transpire at the inquest. The buildings were insured for L6OO. Dunedin, Feb. 20. It is almost certain that Mr Macanfaeu has been returned for the Siiperintendencj of Otago. The numbers now are— Macandrew, 2000; Reid, 1419. Othei returns are to come in, but they are noi likely to alter the result.
