[from our own correspondents.] Auckland, Feb. 14. Arrived.— The Janet Dalgleish, from Newcastle. She has on board the crew of the brig Caroline, which vessel foundered on the 29th ult. 50 miles from NewcastleThe cook, Thomas Laurie, was drowned when the Caroline capsized. The Waikato election resulted as follows ;— Macpherson, 131 ; Kirkwood, 74. The Caledonian fortnightly crushing yielded 40220z, and they expect another thousand to-day. Shares are held at L 35. Belfast, 9s. G. W. Binney reports wheat 5s to 5s 3d ; barley, feeding, 3s ; malting, 3s 6d ; flour, Ll3 to Lls ; bacon, lOd ; maize, I 6s 6d ; oats, stocks low, Oamaru, 3s 2d ; Canterbury, 3s 6d. Wanganui, Feb. 14. At the Maori election here, Kemp got a majority of 15 over Mete Kingi, the former representative. The majority will be, no doubt, much larger when the outdistrict returns are received. Auckland, via Thames, Feb. 14. Paratene Barton has returned to Alexandra. He left thirty men at Pekanui, and says Tapihana was defiant and danced a war dance. Whitiora is also determined. Barton ordered Tapihana to Kawia. He says that if Tapihana goes all will be well, but till then Europeans must be vigilant.
