A startling discovery was made at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, a few days since. Twenty-five quarter-casks of gunpowder, seized at a Fenian store in Iro <jfand, had been brought to Woolwich in Jone of the Government coasting vessels, and on being opened at the Royal Labo ratory for examination, were found to contain lncifer matches and old nails in considerable quantities, mixed with the powder, in every cask. If the casks had been subjected to the rough usages of a i railway transit, the consequences might have been terrible, and even with the comparative precautions taken in conveying them by water, the circumstance of their having escaped is quite wonderful. . After this discovery the casks were of course handled with particular delicacy, They were placed in a barge on the river, aud the boat being scuttled, was sunk at high tide, so there is now no fear of the * ' accident" which some miscreant has endeavored to perpetrate,
