At Smoker's and Devonshire Gullies, the same good fortune seems to attend the miners, not a word of complaint being heard. The entire district is, without the slightest doubt in a most healthy condition, of which there cannot be a greater proof than the miners' neat and substantial houses and stocked gardens, which have replaced the miserable calico tent or mud cabin. — Otago paper.
