COMMERCIAL.

Grey River Argus Office, Wednesday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods passed for home consumption on Tuesday was £234 9s.

The amount of revenue collected at this port during the month of November was as follows : —

Melbourne. —The Argus of the 23rd ult. reports :— In the import markets business continues very quiet, and notwithstanding the very favorable tenor of advices to hand by the mail, no movement of a speculative nature »ias been attempted to be initiated ; but pending the arrival of the steamer and the receipt of letters, a reluctance to entertain transactions of much importance is usually observed. In breadstuffs there is very little to report to-day, the auction sale in the forenoon beina the only feature calling for special notice. Some 55 tons of flour were disposed of at from Ll2 10s to Ll2 15s, according to brands. In wheat we are without any business to report Quotations are steady at 53 6d to 5s 9d. Oats do not attract much attention at present ; values, however, are pretty well maintained ; for ordinary samples we still quote 3s sd, while best qualities command from 3a 7d to 3s 8d ; a faulty parcel was get rid of by auction at 3a 4d. Maize is a trifle firmer, and expected to improve ; sales ore made at 4s 2d. Some 3000 bushels were offered publicly, but the holders refusing to sell under 4s 2d, the whole was withdrawn. For a mixed parcel of barley 2s 9£d was obtained. Sales of cornsacks are reported privately at 12s 3d, while under the hammer 12a l^d was accepted. Teas are in moderate favor. We hear of a line of 700 half-chests of old congous having changed hands at a full price. A parcel of 4000 packages new teas ex Albyn's Isle, is advertised for sale on Thursday. Sucar3 are in good request for trade purposes, and values are well supported. The Helen, from Mauritius, is announced amongst the arrivals to-day. We understand, however, that this vessel, with her cargo/ goes on to Geelong, Sales of currants are mentioned at the extreme figure of 7d. Halves sardines have realised as much as 12s. Candles are being moved off in trade parcels at lOJd for best brands. Some 700 boxes were qnitted by auction, aud lO^d was taken for sound. Considerable parcels of oilmen's stores were cleared off at same time.
