RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT,

CAMPTOWN. Wednesday, Novembek 16. (Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M.) Thomas Braide was charged with using abusive and insulting language towards Samuel Haisty, at No Town, on 20th October. Mr W. W. Wilson appeared for the complainants, and caused witnesses to prove tho- ca3o against defendant. Fined 40s, with costs. Francis Bin en was charged with assaulting James Hewish at Steel's Gully, No Town, on the 24tli October. Defendant pleaded not guilty. Complainant said defendant struck him a # blow in the face withont giving him any provocation. The officer in charge of the Police Station at Gamptown said that when Hewish came to lay the information, his nose was fractured and much swollen. Fined 20s, and cost 3. Police v. Potts. — Defendant was charged with keeping his licensed house open after hours at Nelson Creek, on the night of the sth November. Constable Mackay proved the offence, and said he had cautioned defendant against allowing people to dance in his house after eleven o'clock on Saturday night. He gave the house a good character generally. Defendant admitted the charge, but pleaded in extenuation that he had been fivo years on the creek, and had nut been j charged with a breach of the regulations before. His Worship cautioned defendant, and fined him 203 and Co3ts. CIVIL CASES. Darcy v. Qninlan. — A claim of L2O Is 7d for goods sold and delivered at Nelson Creek. Judgment for the plaintiff for amount claimed with costs. Same v. Richard Gafney. — A fraud summons. The amount of the original judgment was LlO Is. There was no appearance of defendant. A warrant was ordered to issue for his arrest. Campbell v. Roselli. — A claim for L 7 10a 7d for goods supplied at No Town. Judgment for the amount claimed, with costs.
