(from our own correspondent.) Napier, Nov. 15. Mr King has returned from a prospectiug tour near Patea, and has brought back specimens of black sand containing gold. A man named Robinson dropped down dead last night at Havoleck. Dunedin, Nov. .15. A special session of the Provincial Council with regard to the re-union of Otago and Southland opened to-day. Six Southland members out of eight were present. The Superintendent's speech referred to the re-union as comprising the principal business of the session. A reply to the address will be moved to-morrow by Mr Woods, late Superintendent of Southland. Mr Maddock, solicitor, charged with the embezzlement of trust funds, has been discharged. The prosecution was withdrawn. The prosecutor, Gleeson, was then charged with perjury, and the case is remanded. The races are to be held on the new course at Forbury Park, on the 23rd of February.
