[fkom our own correspondents.] Charleston-, Nov. 10. The Superintendent was received with enthusiasm at Charleston and Brighton. His explanations were deemed satisfactory, and votes of confidence were unanimously carried. A banquet in his honor was given at Charleston on Tuesday. He ha 3 left for the Grey via Westport. Christchphch, Nov. 10. The Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show was held yesterday, and was a great success ; about four thousand people were present. There were a large number of exhibits of agricultural produce — flax, rope, and native industries being well represented. The flax exhibited was of a very superior quality, showing a vast improvement in the mode of manufacture during last year. The bazaar in aid of St. Michael's Church last night was crowded. November 11. A very large number of people attended the races yesterday. The following are the results ;— Hurdle Bace : Sir Tatton, 1 ; Star of the South, 2. Derby : Envy, 1 ; Mariner, 2. Jockey Club Handicap : Kuottingly, 1 ; Southern. Chief , 2. Criterion Stake 3; X, K. X, (a walk over). I * Grand Stand Handicap : Lacenfeed, 1 ; Peeress, 2.
