General Sherman, the hero of the celebrated march through the South during the late war, is at present on a visit to San Francisco. One of the greatest demonstrations ever given to a public man in this city welcomed General Sherman to San Francisco. Samsoun, in Asia Minor, has been destroyed by fire. Many lives, 2500 houses, and six churches were burned.
