established, a person to perform tho work of collector and to do justice to the institution ought to devote his whole time to it. This, his present business arrangements would not permit him to do. The resignation was accepted, and a vote of thanks was passed to him for past services. Mr M'Kenna thought it was high time Bom* definite action should be taken. There had been meeting after meeting, and the object they had in view seemed as far off as ever. The site selected by ttie sub-committee was the best they could get under the circumstances ; but the onn Which appeared to be the best was set I aside for another purpose. At all events, It was time some tangible conclusion was come ; and, in order to bring that object about, he would move — " That tenders be at once called for for the erection of one of the proposed building, in accordance with the plans and specifications propared by Mr Mirfin." Mr Pinkerton seconded the resolution, and said that the time had come when action waa necessary, and further delay would be fatal to the object they had in view. The question was, were they to have an hospital at the Ahaura or 'not? And that question would have to be decided that night. The subject they were discussing was & very serious one, and required careful consideration. He asked the Committee to think calmly, and weigh well, the consequences of the resolution now before them. It involved the incurrence of an individual pecuniary responsibility ; he for one was willing to take his share in that responsibility. Decisive and energetic action was required, and this was the time to exercise it. He had much pleasure in seconding the motion. Messrs Dargait, Hamilton-, and E. Fraseb spoke in favor of the motion, which was carried unanimously. It was then moved "That Messrs Hamilton, White, Fraser, M'Kenna and Pinkerton be a sub-committee to confer with Mr Mirfin, and to recommend, accept tenders, and act on behalf of the Committee." Carried. It was arranged that Mr WhitefoorJ and the Committee would visit the proposed site, and if it appeared to be a suitable one take immediate steps to have it proclaimed. After transacting other business a vote of thanks was passed to tho Chairman, and the proceedings terminated.
