LATEST LONDON MARKETS.
During the past two or three weeks the wool market has undergone no substantial change. Prices are lower, and holders are indisposed to meet the market under favorable circumstances. Ther are large accumulations for the November sales, and the depression caused by the war must prevent any ■ improvement in quotations. A prolongation of hostilities will result in a further depression. South Australian wool Is to Is 3d. Sydney and Pert Philip quoted 6d to 23 ; Tajmanian, 3d to Is 7d ; New Zealand, 5d to Is 9d. The arrivals for the October and November sales will be unusually large. Tallow is in good demand at 3d advance for better qualities. Large wholesale houses are speculating on a large increase in prices generally, occasioned by partial cessation of labor in France and Germany. Wheat is expected to go up much higher. Flax slow of sale. Lots by auction bought in or withdrawn. 400 bales sold at L 5 12s to Ll2. Gum. — Middling, 455; good, 51s. Hides, common to fine, 31s 2d to 53s Bd. Colonial securities dull. Queensland, 108£ to 108 f; six per cent., 107 to 109. New South Wales fives, 109. New South Wales five per cent., 100£ to 1014. Liverpool : California wheat, 9s lOd ; flour, 235. California fiour in demand for export, actixe ; superfine, 4dol 62£ cto 4dol 75c ; ditto extra, sdol 62£ cto sdol 87£ c. Wheat, fair enquiry. Sacks, ordinary to choice, Idol 53c to Idol 70 cents. Barley in moderate request at reduced rates. New, Idol. Scents to Idol. lOcents. In oats transactions are light at Idol lOcents to Idol 30cents per lOOlbs. Potatoes in active demand at Idol to Idol fiOcenta per 1001 bj.
