Grey River Argus Office, Friday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods passed for home consumption yesterday and to-day was £275 15s 6d. — « .^ D ThaJi^Z- nf-^<» Ist inSt., reports :- - In the import markets business maintains a quiet aspect, as speculation, or any desire to speculate, seems to have quite disappeared for the present. There is, however, a moderate demand experienced for trade purposes. Breadstuff's do not show much animation. At Ll3 for best brands the larger"buyers are willing enough to operate, but holders do not respaud readily at the price. We are, in consequence, unable to report more than the disposal of trode parcels at Ll3 5s to Ll3 10s. Sales of wheat have bean made at 6s, but not to a large extent, as there is still very little offering. Oats are steady, but that is aU that cau be said. Small lines continue to be placed at 3s 6d to 3s Bd, according to sample. An advance on maize has been established. Trade sales are effected at 4s, nnd we hear of 3s 10^d having been offered and refused for a parcel of 3000 bushels. For teas there is a fair inquiry. We understand | the importers of the Mikado's cargo have already broken bulk by the sale of some 1,500 half-chests congous at prices ranging from Is 9d for medium to 2s 5d for fine congous. The class of teas in this cargo is found to be most suitable for the requirements of the trade Licensed oil is likely to show*more firmness, iv consequence of shipments for the year having fallen . off fully 50 per cent. ; a fair amount of sales have been made for trade purposes during the last few days, and an advance is expected on the price quoted, 3s lOd in drums. An improved demand for kerosene has also come under our notice, and close on 1,000 cases of Devoe's Brilliant are reported to have been taken ujj in parcels at 2s. Tobaccoes are rising rapidly into favour, and prices are advancing. Under the hammer this forenoon some 90 packages af Cameron's Venus and Two Seas, in faulty condition, were quitted, and the extreme prices of Is -4.} dto Is 4<kl for tens and Is 3d to Is 3|d for fives, net cash were realised. Sugars are moved off in moderate parcels at 33s 9d to 37s for low to new yellows. The balance of the Sea Belle's cargo will, we observed, be submitted to public competition on Monday. In liquids, we note sales of Burdon medium sherries at L 55.
