EIGHT-MILE.

(from a^ occasional correspondent.) Clifton, august 31. Owing to the prevalence of fine weather during the past few weeks the majority of the miners have a goodly stock of dirt awaiting, the requisite elements of washing, which it is to be hoped will amply compensate them for their loss of time. . At food's Creek, New River* Hughes and party have been ' indefatigably employedjat their tunnel claim, the Morning Star. They have been fonr months at work, and have driven 400 ft with the most encouraging results. \ • M'Caffrey and party at Gaffrey?s Creek, Cock-a-Bulla/ have been six months over their tunnel claim. -They are 760 ft in from the. -mouth, and rely upon a good return for the' labor they have expended. At Mosquito onining matters are most encouraging. Duncan and party have driven their tunnel 250 ft in nine weeks j and report prospects all that can be desired, and look for a good recompense. Clifford and party's claim is about the best iti this locality ; they are 260 ft in, and on a' recent occasion had a very substantial yield for their labor. ,' Mitchell and party are 150 ft in. Gibson and party 70ft in ; are very sanguine of a successful issue for the time and labor expended by them. The Homeward Bound claim of Reynold's and party, Eight-mile, has been nnworked for the past two or three days, owing to the ground settling down. This claim will; bear comparison with any in the district. At Neraona the tunnel claim of Ed waul Quinti and party is over 400 feet in. They have been nearly twelve m jntlis employed, and find no great reason, to complain of their lot. There are several other claims on the same terrace similarly worked.
