WARDEN'S COURT.— AHAURA.

Thursday, August 18. (Before Warden Whitefoord.) Alex. King and party complained that John O'Connell and party had. committed a breach of the Rules by not allowing one head of water to rim in Sullivan Creek, Duffer Creek District, as directed b^he Regulations. The Warden said this rule must be observed, and he made an order that if defendants would assist complainants to make a dam in the creek to hold sufficient water ' for complainants' use, they (the defendants') could have the night water. Costs to be divided. Mr Drury for the defendants. Bostedt and party applied for an extended area of ground at Half-ounce Greek. Opposed by Folli, Slitter, and party on the ground that the claim could be worked in the ordinary manner. Application refused. Peter Ellis (Peter the Green), applied to be put into possession of an ordinary claim at Murray Creek, The ground applied for was situated within the boundaries of " the site applied for by the Murray Creek Gold Mining Company for their machinary. Mr J. F. Johnston appeared for the Co., and explained that the applicant wanted the ground for speculative purposes. The ground applied for- commanded the Co. 's water, right. The applicant, a foreigjie'r, did not understand -English much^ Tnit he evidently enjoyed the consternation he had created among the parties interested in the cement leasehold. The Warden asked the applicant if he intended to work the ground by means of machinary. He said "yes r ' he had just .--bought a- new pick and shovel." The application was granted on condition that the applicant proceed with the erection of the necessary :machihary or forfeit the ground within two weeks. He was further directed to appear when the Co. applied for the site for thejr machinary, and make good his objection to their grant. . The defendant promised to, comply with the Warden's orders: and with a patronising air took leave of the Courl. Walmsbey, Glass and party," applied for permission to divert a side stream into their race at Duffer Creek/ This application was strongly opposed and eventually refused, without costs.
