The Grey bar is once more in splendid condition for work On Saturday, after ebb tide, no less than fifteen, feet of water could be foun<l iv. the caanuel. TLe brig Magnet and the barque Kate Conley were loading at Melbourne for this port when tho Tararua left. The p. s. Charles Edward, Captain Holmes, arrived at the wharf at midnight on Sunday, from Nelson and Westport. She will leave again to-day at noon on her return trip, as she doea not intend to visit Hokitika this trip. The s.s. Tararua, Capt, Hagley, from Melbourne via Hokitika, arrived in the roadstead on Saturday at 11 a.m., and was promptly waited on by the p.s. Dispatch, which transhipped her passengers, aud dispatched her for Nelson, with only half an hour's delay. Thirty tons of ergo brought by the Tararua for this port were transhipped at Hokitika into the Waipara, instead]) of being brought on here. The schooner Glengarry, from Hokitika, was picked up in the roarlstead by the p.s. Dispatch and brought to the wharf. Ihc schooner Waterman, Le Brun, master, from Melbourne, was towed to the wharf by the p.s. Dispatch on Sunday forenoon. She brings a large general cargo, and is consigned to her owner, Mr W. J. Coates. Tlje schooner Florence cleared the Customs at Christchurch on the 11th iust., for Greymouthy with 90 tons of produce and provisions, shipped by Messrs M'Conncll and Co. The brig Magnet, which left Grey River, N. 2., on the 23rd ult., reports having had fresh easterly winds to the 30th ult. , when she sighted Flinders Island. Since then the winds have been from 35. N.E. The brig has made a very />ood run up on her present trip.— Melbourne Argus. fe'ears are entertained for the safety of the Lord Ashley. When the Phoebe left Auckland on her last trip the Ashley had been five days out from Napier.
