A telegram from Dunedin, dated Aug. 1, says :— " Between midnight and 4 o'clock this morning two boxes of treasure were extracted from the police station at Clyde. -It is supposed that they contained 2000 ounces of gold, and a large amount of bank notes, supposed to be L3OOO worth. The boxes wore locked up in a cell. Two doors were required to be opened to get at it. This morning the outer door was found locked as usual, and the inner one open. The Bank of New South Wales is tho heaviest loser, viz., L2OOO in notes, andLssooingold."
