The exports for the month, Stable*' Circular reports, have been materially ; influenced by the opening of a shipment ■ of spring drapery goods. The aggregate value for the month, has been L 988,771, against L 645,414 in the preceding month. New Zealand increase, L 65 ,876. \ Wool Report. — The last series of sales commenced on April 7th, terminating on May 12ch— total, 164,277 bales. Schwartz > reports that the attendance of buyers was £ good throughout ; prices during the first" fortnight rose Id to 2d per pound, and for superior 2d to 3d per pound. At the close. of the. sales quotations returned to : their starting point. The general tendency of the market was towards an improvement. Closing rates .vary a little from those of tlie preceding sales, but the average result shows an indisputable - r> amelioration. Foreign buyers ope- . rated with exceptional vigonr, ' anid the quantity taken for export amounted from 90,000 . to 95,000 bales. European. . clips coming in June will prevent.a further improvement; but thepre- ? sent rates will probably be maintained for : * the next sales.

The sales up to May 19 were— From \ New South Wales and Queensland,? 54,735 bales; Victoria, 66,735 bales; South Australia, 20,712 bales..; .Western.

Australia, 3747 bales ; Tasmania, 6752 bales ; New Zealand, 28,938 bales ; Ctvpe, 18,262 bales. Total, 180,000 bales. Next sales will commence on 16th June.
