Since our last the only arrival has been the ; s.s;. Kennedy on Thursday morning from! Nelson, Westport,. and Hokitika, 'aud "the. departures the Murray and Kennedy, lor Weatporfc and Nelson. Both had largefreight and passenger lists. ' • . - l The s.s. Claud Hamilton is looked for from ■Nelson to-morrow. This. vessel cleared khe Cusboma on f Safcnrday foT Hokitika, and was , lying off Railway Wharf. It appeared that Captain Davidson • left his vessel on : Sunday night/at' half-past f «even> *Q &ogy to come ashore. ;He l&n---ded, and made his boat fast to the piles. At half -past nine he . was . seen • going do w'n the wharf towards his vessel, and has' hot since been beard of. The dingy was picked up by a man yesterday, morning some distance from .the vessel.' It is 'supposed that Captain Davidson got down to his boat aud unfastened liery and that in .walking along. jfcfee plank, or sliding, down one of the piles/ he missed his hold, and fell into the water: Coitetables Davisoh .and Wallace were em-r - ployed yesterday afternoon in dragging the harbour for the body,; but ' without success.
