THE NEW GOLD FIELD IN MARL BOROUGH PROVINCE.

. .The Marlborwigh Express, ol&tiiinal;, gives the following favorable account of; -tfwuWairau Gold Field :,- i News from the Wairau Gold Fields cpniintiei very* promising, and daring-' the week reports have reached us of various Bmalt'nnds. The niiinlier Qf persons' on field keeps increasing. On Monday, lire heard of a nugget being found by Mr : 0. Smart, weighing 24£dwts of pure, gold ; and on Wednesday, a man named Dorreen, {bettercknowu as Marshall) of Havelock, is reported to have found another, weighing 27dwta^ which was shown to our informant. .* Inspector 1 Emerson reports finds as follows, ,between Saturday and Tuesday; nights :-r-Pit e and others obtained Ipz '^4wW s &i'one and a^half day's sluicing ; ;fl*f?j|dd«n and others got loz in one day's work, gmart and party have gqt a very i rich dale), from which they got soz lldws \ |n on&j^a^aif days. , It, is stated as a fact that, a man Burned George Jones | ptferedii waggon, thbee horses and har•fseMi* value L 140,; for a share in this claim, butthj owners refuseid to sell at any price. A. Warden's Court was held on Tuesday fey Mr Whitebii*h, who 1 paid a flying visit <rom the WakwWiriiift, A case or jumping heard— Gibson V, JPringle, The former was without a miner's ffght, but had obtained one, , before .Pringle , pegged . off the claim, This was not denied, and the detiarcin was given for the plaintiff. We before that many of the claimholders are without miners?, rights, and there is no dout>t but thftt considerable litigation will arise from' that ou^umstancei We believe an official report] of the field will be issued shortly. . ■ . ' . . i \ 'Xge'iftleman who visited -the field Ihis meek writes as follows: — "1 have no doubt that the field will be very rich, and brobabiy e*tenßif e, From what I have Jieard jtfoßre rail be but : little ; doubt that go^ejw^fn other gul^iea, The prosnejctbni appeariohiave foupd gold in the &$t tera#|f>otiVijt l T*«& "fcerry (pafra)utfc)i'-'': fjMeenlay ! is said to Drive struck opuk ?&fihp junction of the prospecting pwekjtfd Butt's gully, .also heavy gold, whi^fact saenw jtp point to the proVabiU# ofthat also, tying, gold-bearing, it prove bo there would be room &t many more liaeri. long ; and the fact that payable gold has been found at different points throughout its length goes far to prove that the whole is payable. Greeu law's claim, at the junction of the prospectors' gully and Bartlett's Creek was not bottomed when our informant Jeft, but they are believed to have found excellent prospects. The wash-dirt is said to be payable for some feet in depth. Lost night we heard that new auriferous ground had been discovered in another creeek running into Barlett's creek, but could not obtain particulars. There are about 300 on the field all of whom are setting in steadily to work, and appear to be satisfied with the prospects. It is a significant fact that only a few have returned, and chose chiefly miners having claims on the Deep Creek.
