THE LATE AMATEUR PERFORMANCE AT THE AHAURA.
[to the editor.] Sir, — Ab an inhabitant of the Ahaura, «rid also as an interested party in the late amateur performance which took place here for the benefit of the intended hospital for this district, I should like to ask the Committee, or the responsible parties (if there are any) why a balancesheet should be hung up at Mr Pinkerton's Star Hotel, and not in any other house whqse proprietors may have taken as much interest in, though not from, as the favored individual. The balance-sheet which I allude to only shows that the amount of itfoney taken by sale of tickets, and also at the doors, was Ll7 7s ; expenses, &c, L 2 13s 4d ; nett amount to credit of hospital fund, Ll4 13s Bd. This, in my idea, is a very small amount, as I am informed that from one house alone L 6 was received. I should like also to ascertain in whose keeping the said monies are, and should the project for which the entertainment was given never be accomplished, what it is intended to do with it. By giving this publicity in your valuable paper you will greatly oblige An Ahaura Resident. - Ahaura, June 6, 1870.
