[from our own correspondents.] Nelson, June 3. Mr Kynnersley has resolved to stand for the representation of Westland North in the General Assembly, in room of Mr Gallagher, resigned. He forwards an address to the electors by the Kennedy. He would go in as an independent member, not pledged to support the present Government, but is disposed to do so, particularly on the Native question. He advocates, however, the abolition of the provinces, and the consolidation of the Government, with local boards, receiving fixed proportions of the revenue. He would support a scheme for constructing large water-races, and for the better protection of the rights of freeholders, leaseholders, licensees, and miners. He intends visiting the Grey District soon, and hopes his knowledge of, and long connection with, the district will justify his return. Dunedin, June 3. In the Provincial Council a resolution affirming that Port Chalmers should be the last port of arrival, and first of departure, for ihe San Francisco route, and that the subsidy should not exceed L 25,000 annually, was carried by 19 to 9.
