The schooner Lady Don, hence bound to Lyttelton, arrived at the latter port on tbe 30th ult, thus completing the outward and inward voyage in fourteen days from port to port. It is to the credit of the pro tern master of the Dispatch that this quick passage has been achieved, as had he not taken her out on Tuesday morning, April 25, she would not have been able to have left the port for several days afterwards. The master of the Lady Don has telegraphed his thanks to the master of the Dispatch, for the coolness and skill displayed by mm. in taking his vessel over the Grey bar when the sea was running very high. There have been no arrivals 6ince our last. The shipping business has been confined to departures and discharging. On Tuesday morning the s.s. John Perm and Kennedy left for Wanganui and Westport, both crossing the bar through a heavy sea in fine style. The s.s. Beautiful Star remained in port, and yesterday she swung from the Cobden wharf, after completing her coaling. Crossing to this side she got aground in the river opposite the wharf, and remained there fast, but she will float off with the tide, and is announced to leave to-day, at noon, for Wanganui, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The discharging of the barque Kate Conley, which -was much retarded by the wet weather of the past few days, was completed yesterday, and she will be towed to sea at 11 a.m. to-day, for Melbourne. She wiU take a limited number of passengers, for whom she has excellent accommodation. The brigantine Ceres, Captain Bell, arrived in harbor yesterday from Greymouth, having left that port on the 9th inst., with a strong northerly breeze up to midnight ; thence to arrival off West Cape, had light airs and calms ; had leading winds through Foveaux Straits, and passed the Solander on the 18th ; thence had light winds to to the Peninsula ; arrived off and came to anchor at the heads on Monday.— Lyttelton Times, 28th inst.
