Grey River Argus Office, Friday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods passed for home consumption on yesterday and to-day wasL36l 4s Bd. Melbourne.— The Age of the 21st. inst reports : — In the import markets to-day the business done has been on a larger scale than might have been, anticipated, ..considering that the holidays are only just over, and the mercantile community are now engaged to a great degree with the preparation of advices for the outgoing mail. Flour is still quoted at LU 10s to Lll 12s 6d for first brands. of Victorian country, and sales in trade parcels are reported at within these quotations. At auction to-day, Lll 7s and 6d was accepted for a moderate sized lot Wheat continues in fair request ; we retain our quotation of 4a lOd to 5s Id for good to prime samples of Victorian. In the auction room this morning, 4s 6d to 4s 9d was got for New Zealand and Tasmanian. Oats have changed hands to a very fair extent; we note the quittance of some 2000 bags (publicly) at prices ranging from 3s 14 to 3s 3d. We also hear of the sale of 400 bags in a line at a price showing an advance on the rates obtained by auctior. We quote 3s 3d to 3s 5d as a value of good samples. Maize continues to exhibit an upward tendency ; sales have came before us at 4s 2d to 4s 3d 'or new. Supplies of the old grains are very scarce. A prime sample of feed barely is reported as having been realised 3s S«L A considerable parcel of malting in faulty condition found a buyer at Bs. We hear also of sales of this grain iv good condition at 4s 8d to 4s 9d. Hops have been dealt in to some little extent, trade sales being reported at Is lOd to Is lO^d for good Kents, a very prime sample (in tanks) realising the extreme figure of It ll^d. Cornsacks have been in fair request for export, and we hear of 10s 6d in bond having been offered for a large parcel without handing to a transaction. A slightly better inquiry is apparent for candles ; we hear of 9£d iv bond having been refused for the best brands ; a parcel of 50 cases Neva stearines is reported as having changed hands at lid. Sales of quicksilver are mentioned at 2s 4d net cash. A parcel of 100 tons pig iron met with a buyer at L 4 sa. Kerosene continues to maintain a firm aspect ; sales to the extent of some 2000 cases have come before us at 2s 9d for oriental. An improved inquiry is experienced for Hennessy's case, and an offer of 26s is reported has having been refused for a considerable parcel. Sales are mentioned at 26s 3d in moderate sized lots. Bourke's stout is still moving at 9s. Good yellow counters being somewhat scarce, sales are reported at L 36. Messrs Creig and Murrry sold this day, at the Queen's Wharf, 400 bushels New Zealand oats at from 3s ljd to 3s 5d per bushel, bags ild each also, 3000 bushels barley, faulty, at fair rates.
