(from our own correspondents.) Wellington, April 25. A deputation, consisting of Messrs Pharazyn, Bannatyne, Hunter, Duncan, Rhodes, and Gillon, introduced by Consul Mclntyre, saw Mr Collie to-day, with regard to the port of call for the proposed new line of mail steamers, and had a most satisfactory interview. He spoke strongly of his intention to make Wellington the port of call for his line, if established. Christohuroh, April 25. At a meeting of shareholders of the Moonlight Quartz Company to-day the following resolution was carried : — " That this meeting, whilst it declines to recognise the right of the Directors of any mining company under the Limited Liability Act to increase their capital, without the concurrence of a large majority of shareholders, the Christchurch shareholders of the Moonlight Company are willing, and hereby agree, to increase the capital of the said company, upon the distinct understanding that the capital now about to be raised shall be expended exclusively upon labor at the mine, with the view of carrying the lower drive under the present three reefs, and that such capital, under the present resolution, shall not exceed L9OO, in 360 shares of ' 60s each, and in two calls of not more than 25s each. Dunedin, April 25. The dinner given to Mr Fox was a great success. It was attended by two Judges, and a large number of the Bar. Mr Driver addressed Ms constituents on Saturday, and was well received. He opposes Auckland as the San Francisco port of call, and supports the abolition of the provinces. The Colonial Prize Firing takes place on Wednesday and Thursday. The mining news from Cromwell is encouraging.
