Rocheforc was arrested, and is now in prison, for publishing seditious articles in the Marseillaise. Rochefort was captured as he was entering a public lecture-hall. His friends, led on by Gustave Florence, attempted to raiso an insurrection, and some trivial barricades wore erected, but little street fighting occurred. Nothing of importance came of it. Paris i 3 now tranquil. The preliminaries of proceedings in the trial of Prince Bonaparte are completed ; he will bo tried at Touleß by the High Court of Justice. Ollivier's Government has announced the abolition of the system of official candidature. A lively debate took place thereupon. The Chambers of the North-German Parliament opened on the 14th. An important debate took place yesterday as to the entry of Baden into the NorthGerman Confederation. The Conservative party and Count Bismarck opposed the motion, which was finally withdrawn. The CEcumenical Council continues its sittings. The question of the infallability of . the Pope is not yet settled. It is probable that the Council will, adjourn. The Saxon Chambers closed yesterday. The final obsequies to the memory of Mr Peabody were held on the Bth Feb. Prince Alfred was present during the ceremony, which was very grand. The Canadian Parliament was opened by Sir J. Young on the 15th February. According to the latest cable news, four Mississippi members attended the House of Representatives. The Senate passed a resolution declaring any further inflation of the paper currency inexpedient.
