Robert Pharazyn has been appointed Crown Lands Commissioner of the Waitotara and Patea districts. Tricker's release is confidently expected, as it is known that the evidence of his alleged confession has completely broken down under cross-examination. Mr Collie, of Collie, Stewart and Co., San Francisco, representative of W. H. Webb, of New lork, shipowner, has arrived here to consult with the Government as to the new mail service.
