Owing to the freshets in the river and bad weather , outside, she was not tendered until yesterday, when she came on here, and her passengers were shipped and lauded by the p.s. Dispatch, with the greatest possible expedir ( tipn, and the Tararua was dispatched on her ' ' trip to Nelson! ' '■ ■- ■ %.t The- schooner Canterbury, Cap t : . Ruxton, | from Lyttelton. arrived yesterday, and was brought in! by the ps. Dispatah. She left Lyttelton on the 2Sth ultimo, with a fine southerly breeze ; rounded Stewart's Island ■■'- ■ at 4 p. m. on the 29tli, and at midnight was off Cape Farewell, after a splendid run of 40 hours. On the 30th, light winds were expe- ■• 'Henced, ! but Cape • iFoulwiml was made. . On the 31st, at 4 p.m., she was off Charleston. Since then! a succession of B.W. gales were encountered to the 9th, the schooner headreaching, and liove-to all -that time. On Saturday night, a heavy gale was met from the N.N.E. to N.'.'and at 2 a.m. on the 10th the wind shifted to the. N.W. AH that day the Grey Gorge was in sight, but the winds , were. too light. On Monday morning,, she ,' '.; ,' beat .upland was brought hi as above.
