[By Electric Telegraph.] (FROM OUtt OWN CORRESPONDENT.) [The following was issued as an " Extra" from this office on Saturday evening :] — Bloff, April 2. The s.s. Rangitoto left Hobson's Bay at 2.30 p.m. on the 23th March. Passed through the Heads at 5.25 p.m. the same day; passed "S^an Island at 6 p.m. the following day. .Experienced moderate winds from the N.E. the first day, afterwards light S. W. winds with fine weather until making the Solander, when it came on a heavy gale from the N. W., with thick weather and rain. Passed the Solander at 6.55 a.m. to-day, and arrived in Bluff Harbor at 12.50 p.m. Passenger List — For Dunedin : Cabin — Miss Wishart, Rielly, Messrs Henry, Tonks, Donald, M 'Masters, Barnett, Rev Mr Caldwell. Mrs Caldwell, Hon. H. Cony, Mr 3J. E, Garbutt, Fitzgerald, and 25 in the steerage. Melbourne, March 28. Commercial affairs brisk — confidence restored ; country orders frequent. Markets, except wines and spirits, slightly advanced. Flour firm at Lll 10s ; wheat, 5s per bushel ; oats, from 3s 4d to 4s lOd; maize, 4s to 43 6J. In sugars, demand good, and prices well maintained. Tea neglected. M'Gregor's motion, affirming that the estimates were excessive in amount, and demanding that the expenditure be confintd within the probable revenue, was agreed to without a division. The Ministry declined to accept this as a sufficient cause for resignation. They demand a distinct vote of want of confidence, and threaten to appeal to the country. Cumming has been elected for the South Western" Province, and Duncan and Gillies for Maryborough. At the Ballarafc sports on Saturday Hewitt and Bird were defeated. The. Alfred Dock strike is continued. The committee of the Eight Hours' League censure the workmen. Captain Payne's appointment as Chief Harbor Master has given great dissatistaction. Knighthood has been conferred upon Mr James M'Culloch. Arrived— Tararua, on the 2Sth March. Sydney, March 28. Wool brisk, greasy, 7d ; scoured, Is 6d. A new Omnibus City Company is proposed. A severe flood has occurred at Braid.'Wbod. One life was lost. For the Sydney Autumn Meeting, the betting is increasing. For the St. Ledger, Barbarian is three to one : Lamplighter, four to one ; Moselle, seven to two. For the Cvp — Eurl'is eight to one; and is
backed for the Cup up to a hundred to ' seven. Iti the case of the Qneen v. McKinlay all convictions for conspiracy were maintained. The Floods Relief Committee have decided to expend LGOOO in relieving distress. The Wonga Wonga sails to-day for Honolulu with seventy-two cabin and sixty-four steerage passengers. The rowing match between Hickcy and Rush for two hundred pounds was won easily by the former. The rains have ceased, and the floods have subsided. Adelaide, March 29. Wheat, 53 2-^d. At auction sales, sugars, ex Elderslie, brought full rates. Arrived. — Ocean Wave, from New Zeai land ; Flying Cloud, from Mauritius.
