PROPOSED HOSPITAL AT THE AHAURA.

PUBLIC MEETING. An important public meeting was held at Pinkerton's Hotel on Tuesday evening, Mr Warden. Whitefoord in the chair, to take into consideration the advisability of establishing an hospital at the Ahaura for the use of the inhabitants pf. the Grey Valley. The Chairman explained the objects of the meeting in a forcible speech, and called on Mr Fraser to move the first resolution. Mr Fraser moved, and Mr Dbuby seconded, "That it is advisable that a hospital be established at the Ahaura, Grey Valley district." Carried. . Moved by Mr Hayden, and seconded by Mr Davis, "That a committee be formed for the purpose of ascertaining the feeling of the inhabitants of the district upon the matter, and to invite their co-operation, and thai such committee consist of Messrs Franklyn, Mackley, Whitefoord, John Hamilton, Fraser, Morris, Pinkerton, McKenna, John Hamilton (the Greek), Davis, Boag, Drury, Darken, Alfred Grundy, and the mover, with power to add to their number." Carried. Mr Boag moved, and Mr Druby seconded, "That Mr Franklyn be requested to convene a meeting at Napoleon Hill, or take such other steps as he may consider advisable to ascertain the wishes of the residents cf that place on the Bubject." Carried. Mr Whitefoord moved, and Mr Pin kerton seconded, "That the thanks of this meeting be given to Mr i'ranklyn for consenting to draw the attention of the residents of Napoleon to the objects of the meeting." Carried. Mr Franklyn moved, and Mr Davis seconded, a vote of thanks to the chair. The Chairman replied, and the meeting (which was largely< attended by the residents of the town and the miners from the surrounding districts) separated.
