The Annie Main; to Auckland, from San Francisco has brought American dates to- January 4. We take the following items from them .:— General Fremont has sued the Kansas Pacific Railroad Company to recover for an : alleged breach of contract in 1865. Tli6y agreed to give 4iim 200,000 dols. in United States bonds,, the first issued to the company under the Act of Congress. The bonds they really did give him were of later date, so he lost several years' interest. ' Private orders were sent from Washington yesterday to all the Navy Yards, directing the work of .fitting out vessels of war for sea to be vigorously prosecuted. The monitor Miantonomah, now refitting at Brooklyn navy yard, has been ordered to depart at once. Her destination is rumoured to be Samana, as it is said that European powers are taking measures to prevent the cession of that portion of the island of San Domingo to the United States. . ! Boston, Dec. 30. Two companies of Fenian volunteers, armed, equipped, and .uniformed, forming part of the, .fourth .battalion' of the Legion of St. Patrick, was mustered into the service .here last, evening by Colonel John Brown, the inustering officer. The Legion is for Eastern Massachusets; Each company numbers n fifty mon properly officered. The Legion is in command of General Burke, whose headquarters are lii New York. It is the military force of the John Savage wing of- the Fenian Brotherhood. The avowed purpose of this movement is to prepare for any coup d"eb(tt in Ireland. There are companies in Lawrence, Lowell, and all the cities and considerable towns of this section. Their numbers ai*e said to be formidable. The Sim says that an American Annexation League has recently beenformed in this city, with the avowed purpose of procuring permission by force, the annexation to the United States of all the countries and provinces of North America, and the islands along the coast. Their motto is. "The national safety of the United. States demands the acquisition of all North America and the West India Islands." The expedition is to consist of fifteen hundred men, of whom eight hundred have already been enrolled. Twenty five guides have been hired, familiar with the Red River country, who will conduct the troopg fronY the last railroad station across the border line. Fifteen hundred Spencer rifles have been stored away ready for use. Ammunition and other supplies are also at hand. The first squad start before, the sth of January, and perhaps as early as the first of the month. The last detachment is expected to leave the city before the beginning of February. Four bodies, numbering together 250 men, have started for. ,the Red: River Tcountry already, from the four cities of Chicago, Buffalo, Detroit, and St. Louis.
