(FEOM OUR OWK" CORRESPONDENT.) ■;. ■ O Wellington, 11th March. A great meeting took place last night regarding Walter Trickers' case. ; 600 people were present, and the Hon. John Johnston was in the chair. The speakers were the Revs. Stock and Moir, Messrs George Hunter, M'Kenzie, Dr" Grace, J. H. Wallace, and Duncan Wakefield. • The following resolutions were unanimously carried with great cheering :— Ist. " That this meeting considers that the reports of the two commissioners who enquired into the circumstances' of the Rayner murder, as well as the facts which have arisen since the trial, induces grave doubts as to the justice of the sentence under which Walter Trioker is now imprisoned. 2nd. " That this meeting is further of opinion that the principal witness against Tricker at the trial has been shown un- - worthy of belief, and that the alibi set up on behalf of the prisoner has been affirmed ; and under these circumstances we consider Tricker's detention is an infringement of personal liberty, contrary to the English Constitution." 3rd. " That the thanks of this meeting and the public of Wellington are due to the Rev Mr Stock for his unceasing and strenuous efforts to establish Tricker's innocence and obtain his release." 4th. ." That the following gentlemen be appointed as the Wellington Tricker Defence Committee, for the purpose of taking such steps as they may deem fit to secure the ; liberation of Walter Tricker from his present imprisonment :— The Hon.
