Tbe s'.b. Murray left here yesterday morning for Hokitika, «oing through the rather heavy surf on the b r in a capital manner. She however was seen to have her decks washed by two or three heavy seas before she got fairly out of the break. The p. s. Kennedy arrived here on Tuesday from northern ports, having experienced very heavy S. W. gales on her downward passage. She left yesterday morning for Hokitika. The Rangitoto ariived off the bar late on Tuesday from Nelson, but could not be tendered, as the tide was too far run out. It waft fully expected that she would have remained until the following morning, when the Dispatch would have conveyed the gold and passengers, on whom there were several awaitinp shipment. In accordance, however, ■with orders from Hokitika. she waa ordered to proceed onward, and did so at daybreak. After being tendered there she returned to the. Grey, where she found the Dispatch waiting for her outside the bar. Thepasaengers and gold were soon transhipped, and about noon tbe Rangitoto steamed away ou her voyage, to. Melbourne.
