Letters from the Front state thatManuwhiri (Tamatinijapori) has prevented the departure of 300 King natives to co-operate with our forces. Rewi has ostensibly gone ''to get the Ngatiraukawa to desert from Te Kooti. Forty men of the King party, under the chief Makino, are said to have gone to join our forces. M'Donnell sends word to the Government that he does not know where Te Kooti has gone, and he does not know what to do. Mr Branigan's presence at the Front is said to be doing harm, as the officers do' not like serving under him.
