Good samples of oats are asked for, and over 4s could be obtained for moderately -sized parcels. Ma^ze is firmer, with an advancing tendency. Considerable parcels have been cleared pff at 3s Gd, and within a halfpenny of that figure, while, on the other hand, offers of 3s Gd have been in many instances turned away. In sugars, the only sales reported went through the auction-room. The damaged portion of the R. H. Jones's cargo of Mauritius, amounting to 481S bags, was cleared off this forenoon at middling prices. We note an improving inquiry for hops, and considerable sales have come nndei our notice. Some 50 pockets new '69 KentSj we understand, changed hands at Is lOd, Some 90 pockets of '(58 hops have also been taken up at prices ranging from ]s 2£d to. Is 4d for good samples. Cornsacks still meet with very considerable favoi, aud sales can be fresly liffected at 12s 3d. The balance of the Japan's cargo of congou teas, about 2082 packages, was place<l on the market, but as the bidding did not piove satisfactory to the importers, only th,o chests, about 416, were got; rid of at from Is 3&d to Is sd. At a concession, the whole might have been cleared off, the teas being good and well liked. There are inquiries for candles ; but we do not hear of any actual sajes. In liquids, the only transaction recorded comes to us through the auction mart, where 1 000 cases Borthwicks's stout were cleared off at fair rates, condition cousidcrpd, at 7s Cd to 7s 7d j>er dugon,
