OPENING OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL.
(from ovr own correspondent.) Hokitika, Wednesday. The County Council met at noon to-day. All the members were present except Messrs Lahnian and Harrison. The Chairman read his opening address, which referred to the late financial difficulties, and congratulated the Council that the affairs of the County were assuming a brighter aspect, but advocated a system of stringent economy. The Standing Orders of last session were adopted, aud the Council adjourned until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
