The 20th October passed without disturbance. 20,000 foreigners left Paris. 120,000 soldiers under arms, and four marshals, held the city. The Emperor gave orders from the Tuileries. He attended the opera in the evening, and was loudly cheered. Ministerial modifications are rumored but none are announced. Marshal Bazaine has been appointed to the command of the Imperial Guards. Serious agitations took place at Aubin, near Orleans. A conflict with troops took place, 14 miners were killed and 22 wounded. A sanguinary conflict between the police and people took place at Bellevue. In Paris, eight thousand shopmen have struck against the long hours and small wages. Co--operative stores have been established. The Emperor haa promised to visit Russia next year. Prince Metternich haa been wounded in a duel with Count Beaumont.
