NELSON CREEK.

(from an occasional correspondent.) Hatter's Terrace, Nov. 27. The Deep Lead, owing to the impracticability of reaching the bottom by sinking, is at a temporary stand-still at present. A party of ten men are driving up a tunnel from Lagoon Terrace to their claim adjoining Murphy's, a distance of 1300 feet, 700 feet of which they have already accomplished. Nothing definite will be known concerning that part of the lead till this party unwater their ground. The claims so far bottomed and at work are paying very good wages to their fortunate owners. A rush has set iv to a terrace situated on the left-hand side of Fenian Creek, four miles distant from Hatter's Terrace, close by the old township at Fenians'. Three parties are getting payable gold, the prospects ranging from 2grs to 3grs to the dish, with 3 feet of washdirt. Forty men are on the spot bringing in tunnels. Some are expecting to have to drive a long distance before they reach the supposed lead ; it will, therefore, take some time *o prove the value of this new find. The gold, so far, has been found in a welldetined gutter, with high reefs on both sides. All available ground is taken up. Fenian Creek, which empties into Kangaroo Creek, has been worked three years ago, but the terraces have not been tried till recently. The business-men, not to be outdone by their Ahaura neighbors, have elected a committee for collecting subscriptions for the forthcoming Christmas sports, thus, if possible, to keep the amusement-seeking public within the district. Mr Gleeson, in expectation of better times, ia erecting a new substantial wea-ther-boarded. s.tor.e at Lagoon Terra^o.
