LATEST TELEGRAMS.

.*, (from our own correspondent.) Wellington, October 27. There have been great floods in the Hutt River, said to be the heaviest known for the last eleven years. A large quantity of property has been destroyed. The latest news from the front is to the effect that Te Kooti has returned to the scene of the late engagement and exhumed and removed the bodies of the men who were there killed. He is now reported to be strongly entrenching his position. He has with him 100 men, and has sent away all women and children. This looks as if he is now determined to make a last stand and fight it out. No quartz reefs have yet been found in the Kaimirawa Ranges. All the specimens shown have been brought from creeks within the Province of Auckland. Prospecting is still actively proceeding.
