The publication of the Eclw newspaper has been suspended, until a motion, calling upon Mr Driver to proceed with the prosecution of the action for libel against Mr Henningham, is disposed of. A petition, calling upon Mr VogeLto resign 'his seat in the General Assembly, has been adopted by a public meeting at Lawrence. Several new quartz reefs have been discovered in the Dunstan district. Christchurch, Wednesday. Gold has been discovered in the ranee* near Timaru. The extent of ground is limited, but will pay for sluicing. A pros- I pecting claim has been taken up, and an application lodged for the Government reward. A rush is not, advisable until further particulars are received. Invercar&ill, Wednesday. In the Southland Provincial Council, Mr Clark's motion, expressive of confidence in the late Executive, has been carried. The Superintendent announces his intention of resigning iii consequence. Three quartz reefs have.been opened in Stewart's Island. Sixty men are at work, but little gold is getting.
