RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Tuesday, A.ugust 3. (Before W. H. Revell, Esq., R.M.) CIVIL CASES. D. Buckley v, Marks.— Claim of L 3 Os 7d, for carriage of goods from the mouth of the Teremakau to the Junction. The vvay-bill was produced, the delivery of the goods proved, and the defendant's promise to pay sworn to. The defence was that the goods were carried by one Scott, and the carriage of them had been paid for. A way-bill for the same goods was produced. Scott's storeman stated that the goods in question were never carried by Scott or went through his store, and that he heard defendant promise to pay plaintiff the amount. Judgment for the amount claimed with costs. J. W. Parkinson v. J. H. L. Ralfe.— No service of summons. Thomas Sheard v. John Black. — Date of summons altered to the 10th inst. P. T. Crogan v. John Dougherty. — Same as the last case. Sweetman and Co. v. Batty and Co. — Claim of Ll9 10s. Judgment for the plaintiff for Ll2 with costs. A. Montgomery v. Black and Sheard. — Adjourned for a week. Same v. Patterson and party. — Same as the last case. Same v. Duncan and Hansen. — Claim of L 24 14s. Judgment for the amount claimed with costs. Same v. D. M'Millan.— Claim of LSB. — Case dismissed with costs. E. Trahey v. Daniel Buckley. — Claim of L 7 2. Case dismissed with costs. Same v. James Rugg. — Claim of Ll3. Judgment for plaintiff, with costs. Wm. Dale v. Mrs Jones. — Claim of LI 18s 6d. Judgment by default, with costs. Hirsch v. Beissel. — Claim of LI. Judgment confessed. David Black v. W. Potham.— Date altered to 10th inst. John Whittaker v. Robert Connor. — Claim of L 6. A set-off of Lll 10s was lodged. Judgment was given for defendant, LI 10s and costs. Skoglund and Purcell v. Moss. — Date altered. Trustee in the estate of Stephen Egan v. Michael Hart.— Claim of LlO. Case dismissed, Wednesday, August 4. G. Cooper was charged with obstructing the thoroughfare, by having a hand-cart thereon, and was fined 5s and costs.
