(From the West Coast Times.) Wellington, July 6. A tire broke out on Lambton Quay at six o'clock this morning. It destroyed an empty house, and the premises of Lowe, saddler, and White, seedsman. The stocks were saved, and the buildings were insured. Mr Fox's Bill for the suppression of the rebellion is not expected to come on for discussion until to-morrow. The question of the Government policy will be opened by the Opposition when ready. • Mr Fox to-morrow moves :— lst. That ii the opinion of this House the existing expenditure on the Colonial Force is altogether beyond the financial resources of the Colony allow it to be, and it is imp( ssible to continue the same in consistency with the public credit. 2nd. That therefore necessary steps should be forthwith taken to bring the necessary expenditure within the appropriation for the current year, which ought nob to exceed .£150,000. Mr Fox has introduced a Bill to provide a mode for summary trials in disturbed districts. Mr Yogel is gazetted Commissioner of Stamps. Christchuroh, July 6. A large indignation meeting was held on Saturday at Temuka, to protest against the placing of the Opihi bridge four miles east of the Main South Road. The meeting was adjourned until Saturday next. There is great excitement about the matter. Napier, July 6. Lieutenant- Colonel Herrick reports that from the unfavorable weather he has been unable to act further against the enemy. We learn that consequent upon this, the Government have determined immediately to withdraw the expedition composed of 800 men from the Waikare Moatia Lako.
