Outs are improving ; we u.ote a brisk demand for feeding purposes at 4s, but stocks at this figure have run short, and few or np sales have in consequence come under our notice ; holders ask 4s Id, and jn some instances this figure has had to bg paid. There is a large trade doing in maize, and notwithstanding that supplies eontimie to cqme forward very freely, the demand is quite equal to the supj>ly ; 4s is obtained for parcels ; we likewise hear that the cargo of the Sarah, consisting of 7000 bushels, changeil hands, privately, on terms withheld. Candles are wanted for shipment, but ;>s there is yet no disposition on the part of holders to s,ell under 9jfd in bond, business is much circumspribed. Teas a.re moved off, according tp quality, at from 13d for rations to Is Cd for medium ; a line of 500 half-chests good common congou was placed at within our quotations. Sugars are linn, though buyers are still v§ry backward in operating, and there is very little to refer to in the way of sales ; but though there are still several cargoes iv firgt hands, prices are not expected to go lower, as it is not likely that much more can now come forward from Mauritius before the new season sets in, and very little can be looked for from any other quarter. We understand that a. vessel was chartered at Cape Town to bring <>n a cargo from Natal, but as no'loadinsj could be got, the charter had to be cancelled. The sales of timber comprise the Atlas's cargo of Baltic flooring, amq.inting to 777,676 ft. Phillij § and Hill's corrugated iron, 26-: gauge, realieed from L 24 15s to L 27 10§ for sft to 9ft lengths; and Smith and M 'Lean's Scotch corrugated, same gauge, was quitted at L24to L 27 for 6ft to 9ft lengths.
