THE FENIAN CONVICTS.

A return, prepared pursuant to a motion of Sir George Jenkinson, has been published, showing the number of convicts discharged from or retained in convict prisons in or to this country in the years ending March 31, 1865, '6, '7, and '8. In the four years the average number released in each year on Royal pardon was 7. Only 11 were released on commutation of sentence during the four years, and 9 on medical grounds. During the same 676 completed their sentences. Of ihose released on license before the period fixed by the circulars dated June 27, 1857, and August, 1864, 319 were in 1865, 466 in 1866, 81 in 1867, and 43 in 1863. The number discharged on license within six months of the period fixed by the circular of 1867 was 1259 in 1865, 1005 in 1866, 979 in 1867, and 637 in 1868, The return does not include military convicts, The following are the names and sentences of the Fenian convicts not proposed to be released, and showing what portion of their sentences is unexpired. The prisoners in Great Britain and Ireland, not including military convicts, are Thomas F. Burke, J. M'Cafferty, J. M : Clure, J. O'Donovan (Rossa), T. C. Luby, J. O'Leary, M. Sheehy, J. Devoy, W. Halpin, J. F. Kearns, E. Power, P. Walsh, P. Lennon, B. Dillon, C. N. O'Connell, D. D. Mulcahy, W. F. Roantree, G.- Browne, E. St. Clair, M. Stea, alias Moriarty, W. Mackey, J. Murphy, alias O'Leary, and M. H. Carey. In Australia there are E. J. Kelly, J. Dunne, alias Cody, J. Flood, C. D. Cane, T. Baines, D. Bradley, F. Fennell, G' F, Connolly, and J. Kearney. The persons now in convict prisons under sentence of penal servide, for offences in connection with what the return calls " The Fenian Conspiration," and who were convicted in England, are E. Shore, P. Melody, J. Brannon, T. Scatley, T. Featherstohe, W. Murphy, P. Doran, H. Shaw, R, Burke, C. Moorhouse, J; Carrol, D. Redden," J. Anderson, alias Loam, P. Ryan, W. P. Thompson, and P. Mohnan.
