Mr Rolleston declined, in consequence of negotiations which were gp.ing on with Mr Stevens.. . Major St. George reports that Te Kooti with IQO men intends to attack Apnharuru. Heu-heu has been taken prisoner, Th§ Wanganui natives have received information that Te Kooti is at th.c edge of Taupo Lake, with 300 men. It is said he intenus coming down the Wanganui river, destroying the native settlements on the way, Marauding parties have already been driven off by the Friendlies in the vicinity of Taupo Lake. The Wanganui natives are greatly alarmed, ;, Kemp has sent 100 men up the river to reinforce the Taupo Friendlies, Mauriuioto messengers from Titokowaru to Te Kooti to ask for assistance, were escorted up the river by Topia's people. Topia is in communication with the rebels. He wishes to preserve peace on the river, but to be free to fight the King's battles elsewhere. Major Noake has captured au additional forty-three rebels.
