liliKY 111 VKK A Krt ITS Office. Friilay evening. The amount of revenue received at the Custom House on goods passed for home consumption yesterday and to-day was £226 198 Bd. The items were as follows : —

Melbourne.— .The Anjus of Juno 8, reports as follows : — In the import markets to-day business has been very inactive. The arrival of the mail steamer has had the effect of causing a suspension of transactions until the nature of the advices to hand, and their bearing on the markets, have been thoroughly ascertained. In breadstuffs, the feeling in regard to flour is far from lively ; we heir, however, of small trade parcels being quitted at our quotations of Ll3 10s to LI3 15s. Wheat has boen in improved request, but in the absence of large parcels offering sales are limited. Best samples of Victorian meet with a ready demand at 6s, and we learn of Tnsmaniaii having been quitted at 5s 7id t > 5s 9d. Oats are very firm ; we quote 4s to 4 5 2d ; at the former figure, however, nothing of a quality worth having can be got hold of. A very extensive trade Inquiry continues to be experienced for maize at 4s to 4s Id. The quantity coming forward is large, but the demand at present is quite sufficient to carry off all that has hitherto been received, and we understand that there is very little lelit in first hands. Candles are very steady, holders being still stiff in their ideas ; we hear of 9Jd per lb in bond having been refused for a thousand boxes Brandon's yellow label. The quantity advised coming forward for the last month is large— say 170 tons ; holders still ask lOijd duty paid. At the auction sale of tobaccoes this forenoon, there was a fair attendance. Some 400 packages were offered, the quality of most of which was saitl to be very choice, About 190 packages were disposed of under the hammer and privately as well. Twe've-'iich twist realised Is 2d to Is 2.^1 ; half-pounds, 11^1 to Is ; pocket piece*, Ja Id to Is lid ; navy sixes. Is od 5 pounds, 8d ; flrsi brand twis l -, Is 5d ; and tens, B|d to 9.sd. The quantity ad vis ad by this mail appears to be heavier than was expected. The shipments reported from America of kerosene oil for the month ending Bfch April are a'so large, but not so extensive as rumor pointed to last mail. The Sharpsburg, from Boston for Melbourne, brings 2000 cases, and tbe Be--fcha : from Nev/ York brings )3,159 cases for Melbourne, and 2000 gases for Sydney. The Tientsin, from Boston to Sydney, has 1000 cases, and the Lizzie, from Boston to Porb Chalmers, has 2920 cases. Two vessels were reported p.s loading at Boston for Melbourne, and t\7O at New York also for this port, besides one for Sydney, and one for Adelaide and New Zealand. No sales have come under our notice during the day, but we observe that 2000 cases will be offered by auction to-morrow. From the rice ports — Calcutta, Bankok, Saigon, and Java—^shipments of rice to tbe colonies have for the present ceased, none bding advised.
