The Admiralty oflicials — Gambler and Rumble — charged with conspiring together to obtain a sum of money from Mr Maxwell, under the false pretence of obtaining for him the acceptance of a contract, were - tried for the offence on April 9. "The jury convicted them, and they were sentenced each to eighteen months' iTipmonmeiit with hard labor.
