The cutter Volunteer, from Onehunga, arrived off the bar on Tnesday forenoon, and waß brought in yesterday morning by the p. s. Dispatch. She brings a cargo of timber and bricks. The s.B. Omeo, from Melbourne via New Zealand ports, is expected to arrive in this roadstead on Saturday, when she will be despatched with passengers fqr Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, The 8.8. Waipara, Captain Bascand, arrived yesterday morning from Hokitika with the lighter Isabella in tow, both vessels being timber-laden. The Waipara want north last night. She will return to.morrow, and then take her departure for southern coast ports, on one of her usual subsidised trips. Yesterday morning the p.s. Despatch towed to the wharf the ketch Brothers ami Sisters from Hokitika, laden with timber. The schooner Spray, Captain JRuxton, from Lyttelton, with a general cargo, was brought to the wharf on Tuesday morning by thep s. Despatch, She sailed from Lyttelton on the 12th, and made a fine run to off Cape Farewell in two days, but as the wind then freshened up from the S,W. she did not round the Cape until the 19th, and made the roadstead on the morning of Tuesday, when she was brought in as above. On the trip she spoke the Elizabeth Curie and the Crest of the Wave. Yesterday her cargo w;is sold by auction on the wharf by Messrs 1). Maclean and Co., and realised good price*-, The 8.8. Wallabi, Captain Daniels, from Wellington and Westport, arrived iv the roadstead on Tuesday afternoon, and crossed the bar on the evening's tide. Early yesie •- day morning she took in a cargo of coal, and at 10.30 a.tn, left ou her return northern trip. The p. a. Yarra made another run up from Hokitika on Tuesday with a cargo principally consisting of building materials., and left again the same evening. The p.s. Lyfctelton, Captain Scott, from Kelson, via Westport and Hokitika, arrived at the wharf yesterday forenoon, She left Nelson at 7 a.m. <>n Wednesday la t, but on reaching Farewell Spit had to come to an anchor, in consequence of the S.W. gale Which was then blowing. She arrived at the Buller on Sunday morning at 1 o'clock, and crossed the bar at 6" ; left again on Monday night, arrived at Hokitika on Tuesday mom. ing, leaving again on Wednesday moi nin<j, and arriving as above, She left again last uight for Weatport and Nelson, We are glad to see our old friend the Persevere at the wharf again, looking none tho worse for her detention ou the ugly spit She floated off beautifully on Monday night.
