(from our own correspondent.) Christchurch, Thursday. Mr Ingles lias been returned to the Provincial Council. The Garrick Ministry has not yet been re-formed. Wellington, Thursday. The House of Representatives met yesterday, at 5 o'clock. Mr Edwards moved the reply to the Address, guarding himself from a general support of the Ministry in future. Mr Swan seconded the reply. Messrs. Wilson, Borlase, Potts, and Fox spoke a few minutes, avoiding committing themselves to a distinct expression of opinion. The reply to the Address was passed, and the House rose shortly after 6 o'clock. A meeting of the New Zealand Steam Navigation Co.'s shareholders was held today, when a resolution was adopted, that if the directox's could obtain a legal offer of ,£21,000 for the company's assets, excepting cash, &c, on hand, which is expected to amount to £12,000 more, to accept it. This would be equal to .£3 10s. per share. The Circular Saw Company is favorably inclined to make the offer. Christchurch, Friday. It is supposed that the new Executive will consist of Mr Knight, Provincial Secretary; Mr Wynn Williams, Provincial Solicitor ; Mr Peacock, Provincial Treasurer; Mr Brown, Commissioner of Railways. Timar-u, Fiiday. A meeting of the Board of Works was held to-day. The report of the Committee appointed at last meeting to consider the question of Separation of the district was read. It recommended the adoption of the measure proposed by the Select Committee of the Provincial Council, and strongly urges the complete severance of the district from Canterbury. A public meeting is to be held to-night to discuss Separation. ' Wellington, Friday. Nothing 1 important was transacted in the House yesterday. The usual routine of appointing Committees was gone through. One was appointed for the purpose of considering tenders for the mail services, and to report as to the best route to be adopted.
