Mddle. Christine Nilsson pronounces in favor of lowering the English musical pitch. The proposed change, says Mddle. Nilsson, isof the "highest vocal necessity," and is judged uiost indispensable by all vocalists. A governess in a family at Greenock, whilst recently putting her hair in cnrl papers, set her h^r on fire, whereby her head, face, and left eye were severely injured, and she expired in consequence a day or two afterwards. A boy, ten years of age, hanged himself in an outhouse at Northmoulton, because his mother refused to give him a halfpenny. Two or three young children were present, but though they ran for assistance it came too late. An elderly widow, while waiting in the surgery of a Mr Leslie, at Battersea, stole a piece of phosphorus from a bottle, and placed it in her pocket. She was ultimately bnrnt so badly on her right side that it was found necessary to convey her to a hospital.
