Melbourne..— The Aryns of the 25th ult. reports •:— r ■ Business in the import markets has not been characterised by much animation. In the auction rooms little has transpired of any consequence, and the sales reported privately have not been of mtich account generally. In breadstuff's, flour is maintained with great firmness af from Ll4 to Ll4 5s ; at auction a small lo.t of Dixon's flour was quitted at Ll3 15s. Fine wheat cannot be purchased under 6s 2d. to 6s 3d ; and we hear of a parcel of inferior having been placed at 5s lid. Qu'o- | tations of maize are steady at 4s 5d to 4s 6d, but there is little business to refer to in the way of sales. In sugars, very considerable activity is still experienced. We learn of some 2,000 bags, ex Helen, having been got rid of. Teas are disposed of in moderate lots ; a line of medium congous, in chests, met with a purchaser at Is Gd. A shipment of Keiller's assorted confections was taken up at lOd per lb. In provisions, sales of Varey's hams arc effected at 13d. Kerosene oil is moving off quietly in considerable lines; some 2,000 cases we.c quitted at an extreme figure. Speculative attention has been directed towards tobaccoes, leading to the sale of at least a thousand packages, consisting chiefly of fancy aromatics, twists, halfi pounds, and tens, and amounting in value to fully LIO.OOO, Bulk brandies obtain no notice ; there is, however, a brisk inquiry for Hennessy's in case ; but as all the importers refuse to name anythiug under 275, buyers have been unable to operate. The advanco required of Is per case is fully expected to be established,
